Carving a low relief gutter in wood to fit in glass?
Hi!
I am making a wood box to use as a showcase for a garage kit model I have done. The box, should have three sides in wood (back, bottom and top) and three sides in 3mm glass (front, left and right).
I would like to carve a 2-3mm low relief gutter, to fit the glass in the top and bottom sides, so the glass will stay steady and it will have a nice finishing as if the glass was rising from the wood.
My question is: how to make this job without the need to buy specific and expensive tools?

If you have a circular power saw (most handymen do and you sound handy) you could clamp a guide to the material like on this site http://www.justclamps.com/progrip_straight_edge_clamp.htm just over half way do the page under the heading of Saw Base, if the first run wasn’t wide enough just move the guide a 1/16" or so to suit.
