After a quick thunderstorm, just realized the gutters need to be cleaned once again.

It’s just that every time I clean them on this two story house, I get more scared every time going up on the second story.

Like what if the ladder broke, or what if I was walking on the porch roof there, and it caved in or something.

Not that the house is all in that bad of shape only being about 15 years old and all.

But still, I just get so worried, but I have to do it, or else it will never get done.

It’s scary though, a fall could mean death, or close to it.

How can I get over this or what can I do?

You can call a service – there are several around here that would do at typical ‘Cape’ with a footprint of say… 30 x 50 for $800/year, and they come three times per year. Fall, spring and mid-summer. They get our 3-story colonial done in about 3 hours. We pay a bit more than $300/visit but we need them only once per year.

You can rent or purchase a gutter-cleaner from Roomba. A neat little device that actually works.

You can install gutter helmets.

I would like to know if the Stihl gutter cleaning attachment for blowers is compatible with the Kombi system blower attachment? Has anyone tried this or come up with something on there own to clean their gutters using the blower attachment? Thanks

Stihl’s website states that their gutter cleaning attachment fits most of their models. Keep in mind the attachment is only 10 feet long. While it might be handy to use to clean your first floor gutters, it would likely be cumbersome to climb a ladder with a backpack blower and this attachment to address second or third floor gutters. You may also want to note that when you use an attachment like this you’ll blow some of the debris back up the roof (where it can get back into the gutter over time) and down to the ground. If the debris is wet and decaying, you’ll likely some of this sludge blown onto yourself, possibly even splashing onto your house, ultimately creating more work than some traditional gutter cleaning techniques.

Because our leaders live in gutters and throw mud on each other. If it is cleaned immediately where would they go and throw?

What would one consider a fair price for gutter cleaning?
For a company?
For a guy just doing it on the side for extra money?
Do you charge by the foot, whole house, etc.?
I’m in the Midwest (St. Louis) where I know things are more reasonably priced than in some other parts of the county.

An average starting price here in California is about $80. Double that for a 2 story home. The price rises even a little higher if the home is all "hips" meaning continuous gutters all the way around.

Whoever does the general yard maintenance. The person who cuts the grass, and rakes the leaves also cleans gutters.

Ok I have a serious phobia for ants and it has apparently come down to me to clean the gutters. After months of the gutters not being cleaned, the plant matter has decomposed to rich dirt and has become the perfect place for a full blown ant nest. I need some suggestions to clean out this as quick as possible.
